Our Ethical Supply Chain Map

Where does your jewellery come from?

It’s a fair question, and one we think everyone should be asking. In an industry that has, at times, been notoriously murky, we believe in pulling back the curtain. We want you to know the story of your jewellery, not just from the moment it arrives in our workshop, but right from its very origins. For us, transparency isn’t a buzzword; it’s a responsibility. We’ve worked incredibly hard to build a supply chain that is short, clear, and one we can be genuinely proud of. It’s a chain built on trusted relationships, shared values, and a commitment to doing things the right way. So, let’s take a little journey together and trace the path of your piece, from its source to our bench.

The Starting Point: A Circle of Precious Metal

The vast majority of our jewellery begins its life not deep in a mine, but in a state-of-the-art refinery right here in the UK. We are passionate advocates for a circular economy, which is a fancy way of saying we love using recycled materials. Our primary supplier is one of the country's leading refiners of precious metals, a company that shares our commitment to sustainability. They collect what’s known as ‘scrap’ silver and gold from a huge variety of sources. This could be old, unwanted jewellery, industrial offcuts, or even the silver recovered from medical and dental equipment. It’s a treasure trove of forgotten metal. At the refinery, these materials undergo a remarkable transformation. Through a highly advanced and environmentally responsible process, the old metal is melted down and refined back to its pure form, removing any impurities. It’s an incredible process of renewal. The pure silver or gold is then alloyed back to the exact standard we need – 925 for sterling silver, or 9ct and 18ct for gold – and formed into the gleaming sheets, wires, and casting grains that are delivered to our workshop door. By using 100% recycled precious metals, we are drastically reducing the need for new mining, saving enormous amounts of energy and water, and ensuring that the beautiful resources already in circulation are kept in use. Your new necklace could have had a past life as a Victorian locket or a 1960s charm bracelet. It’s a story we love.

The Sparkle: Sourcing Our Gemstones with Care

When it comes to gemstones, the story is a little different. While we are always exploring options for reclaimed and recycled stones, the majority are sourced from the earth. This is where transparency and trust become absolutely critical. We don’t just buy our stones from anonymous dealers on the internet. We have spent years building strong, personal relationships with a small number of trusted, family-run gemstone suppliers based here in the UK. These are people we know by name, people who visit our workshop, and people who understand our non-negotiable stance on ethical sourcing. Our suppliers work directly with mines and cutting facilities across the globe, from the sapphire mines of Sri Lanka to the amethyst deposits of Brazil. They provide us with a clear line of sight back to the source. We ask the tough questions: What are the conditions like for the miners? How is the local community supported? What is the environmental impact? We only work with suppliers who can give us confident answers. For diamonds, we adhere strictly to the Kimberley Process, a global certification scheme that prevents conflict diamonds from entering the mainstream market. But we see that as the bare minimum. We are constantly pushing for greater traceability, favouring suppliers who can tell us the exact mine of origin. It’s a complex picture, but it’s one we are committed to navigating with integrity.

The Final Stop: Our UK Workshop

The final stage of the supply chain journey is the shortest. From our UK-based metal refiners and gemstone dealers, the materials travel directly to our workshop. There are no long, convoluted shipping routes across the world, no mysterious middlemen. It’s a simple, direct path. This short, controlled supply chain is incredibly important to us. It dramatically reduces our carbon footprint, for a start. It also gives us complete confidence in the quality and provenance of our materials. When a new batch of recycled silver sheet arrives, we know exactly where it has come from and the journey it has been on. When our gemstone supplier shows us a new parcel of glittering tourmalines, we can have an honest conversation about their origin. This transparency is the foundation upon which we have built our business. It allows us to stand behind every single piece we create with total confidence, knowing that it has been crafted not just with skill, but with conscience. From the refiner to our bench, and then to you, it’s a journey we are proud to share.
